What does The Bigger Picture look like for AI-Media and why is it important?
AI is having a significant impact on accessibility and specifically captioning and translation solutions. How? The use of AI in the underlying platforms has resulted in the increased accuracy and lower latency of automated captioning solutions; which makes them a more viable option in more applications. Ultimately this means that automatic captions such as LEXI, make captioning content more affordable and content more accessible.
AI-Media can provide the underlying captioning encoder technology plus the captioning solution itself... and run these across our global iCap delivery network. Having this fully compatible, vertically integrated solution enables us to offer additional benefits and solutions such as our recently released LEXI DR (Disaster Recovery) Solution which offers a seamless caption failover in the event that cloud connectivity is compromised. AI-Media is working hard to use innovation such as this to simplify captioning workflows for broadcasters.
What will be the biggest gamechanger in the next five years and why?
The impact on regulations, of directives such as the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and updates to the Audiovisual Media Service Directive (AVMSD).
What is the one big issue the sector needs to address together?
To better leverage the value of content elements that are neither visual nor audible. Valuable metadata describing the audiovisual content is routinely discarded during its journey from, “glass to glass”; curating and making use of it can make content more accessible to all.
