David McClelland is a British journalist and television presenter. A familiar face on UK screens, David has for more than a decade been resident consumer champion on BBC’s flagship consumer series, Rip Off Britain.
Specialising in technology and consumer affairs, David has hosted weekly gadget show Planet of the Apps, led major cybercrime investigations for BBC Watchdog and The One Show, reported for Newsround and Right on the Money, and is a regular on Channel 4 Steph’s Packed Lunch, ITV Good Morning Britain and BBC Crimewatch Live.
David has unmasked online hate-criminals in hard-hitting BBC Three documentary Troll Hunters, exposed PC support cyber-crooks and hacked high-street coffee shops for BBC Watchdog, uncovered the secrets of the Ashley Madison adultery website for Discovery in Sex, Lies & Online Affairs, and created AI deep-fakes of celebrities and national treasures for The One Show and Rip Off Britain.
As a journalist and writer, David’s bylines include national newspapers and specialist titles such as Metro, Wired, Computer Weekly, CNET, TechRadar and International Business Times. David works as a producer, director and shooting PD – he is a Screenskills self-shooting PD alumnus – for broadcast, editorial and corporate projects, and is founder of production company Sounds Engaging specialising in new podcast formats.
