Mark Oliver

Chairman, Oliver & Ohlbaum Associates

Mark Oliver is chairman of boutique strategy advisory company Oliver & Ohlbaum Associates (O&O). He was the BBC’s first head of strategy and its youngest ever member of senior management. After leaving the BBC in 1995, he set up O&O, which advises major companies, investors, regulators, sports bodies and governments across the global media, entertainment and sports sectors.

Clients past and present include the English Premier League, UEFA, the EFL, the Bundesliga, Liverpool PC, Manchester United, Ofcom, DCMS, European Commission, Liberty Global, Sky, BT, BBC, Google, Spotify, WBD, NBCUniversal, Creative Artists Agency, the MPA, Netflix, KKR, Providence, CVC, Arctos, Redbird, BeIN, RTL, ProsiebenSat.1, AMC Networks, Banijay, Disney, Fox and Paramount.

Mark has taken a leading role in introducing innovative new approaches and business models to a number of sectors - sports rights exploitation and optimisation, multichannel TV, web news, independent TV production, sports team ownership, high end scripted content funding, addressable advertising, music streaming, SVoD pricing and bundling etc.

Before joining the BBC, Mark worked as a regulatory and antitrust economist at NERA and then PwC. He has a BA in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University and lives in Somerset and London in the UK.
