Simon Michaelides

Director General, ISBA (Incorporated Society of British Advertisers)

Simon is an accomplished C-Suite executive, a Fellow of both The Marketing Society and The Marketing Academy and has twice been named by Marketing Week as one of the UK’s Top 100 Most Effective Marketers (2020 & 2022).

With nearly 3 decades of commercial experience, both as an advertiser and a media owner, Simon is originally a P&G and PepsiCo trained marketer, accumulating 15 years of experience in FMCG -  including 2 yrs as a management consultant at Kantar Consulting, before making the leap into the Media / Entertainment & Travel sectors, where he spent 12 yrs in a variety of C-Suite roles - including Chief Commercial Officer at UKTV (a BBC Studios company), Chief Marketing & Innovation Officer at BBC Studios UK, and Chief Customer & Strategy Officer at Riviera Travel.

Repeatedly called upon as a change-agent, recognised for being a builder of brands, organisational capability, and new products & services, Simon has a relentless focus on marketing excellence and customer centricity, with a consistent track record of delivering business growth. He joined ISBA from the British Horse Racing industry, where he was Chief Customer Officer and Acting CEO of Great British Racing – a stand-alone organisation responsible for the central marketing & promotion of the sport.

Passionate about driving positive change and unlocking potential for others, Simon is an active coach & mentor - most notably, acting as an advocate for “Inbetweeners”, forming & chairing communities of senior marketing leaders who are currently in-between roles.

In addition to his corporate roles, Simon has held several non-executive positions, including as a member of ISBA’s Council, Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Industrial Advisory Board, and the Board of Murphy Cobb & Associates - the global advertising production consultancy. He is currently a trustee of Brooklands Museum - the original home of British motorsport & aviation, allowing him to marry his marketing expertise with his other passions for 20th Century History and all things automotive!

A keen gym goer, and fan of film & television, American Football and the World Rally Championship, Simon is married to his childhood sweetheart. They have two sons aged 20 & 17, and live in Weybridge Surrey, with the family dog.
